aw ni ce,
kow bEdi Amadou?

I just believe that these presidents where expecting some kind of rewards
for doing so.
Most people believe that the salvation of Africa will come from the billions
of Dollars the West is promising (NEPAD, anti-AIDS package, ...).
Ultimately it's up to African to make the difference in the future of
Africa, that's what our "leaders" don't seem to understand. No matter how
many billions of Dollars we will be given for free we won't get anywhere
until we understand that it's up to us to think for ourselves and act
accordingly.

> Now, concerning your question about the graduation of ATT's child in
Canada, I don't know if there is truth in the rumor, but I don't see much
problem with it. ATT is a father, and like any father who has the means he
has, he would like the best type of >education for his kids. Like any good
father, he would also want to share his children's Joyce and trouble. As
long as his child is in Canada studying on money the Toures earned honestly
I don't see any problem. I believe, President Toure or anybody else >who
have had his rank and time of service in the military, NGOs, public services
could send his kid to study abroad. I suspect many of us studying or now
working in Europe or North America were able to do it because of the support
they got from their >parents. The question is did anybody in this group,
including the children of our Presidents, and other public servants come on
money stolen from our taxpayers or on scholarships that were taken away from
more meritorious Malian students? We all need >to think about this question
and make sure that such practices do not occur in our country.
>

I agree completely with you and they're plenty of these kind of allegations
going around and nobody seems to know whether there are true or false.
That's why I brought the issue to mAlilink. Nevertherless if happens to be
true, I would even admire the presidents if he did it completely private
without spending a cent of the mAli tax payers. That is, pay from his own
pocket all expenses of the trip for him and anybody travelling with him. And
that's where I get concerned as I know the culture our puplic figures are
nourishing towards public wealth, and I'm gonna adopt the "So called allies
attitude regarding Saddam's WMD". Unless they proove that they're not using
public money, I suppose they use it for personal reason.

salaam,
CisseM.
